5392_1.jpgMuseum of Folk instruments and music

Located right next to the Tower of the Winds and the Roman Agora (in Plaka, close to Monastiraki Square), this museum is fascinating:  It presents about 1200 musical instruments from the 18th century to our days, with pictures and audio devices which allows you to listen to the sound and music of the instruments. You will admire bouzouki, mandolins, violins, clarinets, hand organs, flutes, drums, zithers, dulcimers, ouds, and bagpipes, just to name a few. And if this isn’t enough, they have a special section of plain old noise makers.

Entrance is free.
