Cape Sounio

The perfect combination of history and nature.

Cape Sounio and the Temple of Poseidon:

The cape Sounio, at the southern tip of the Attica peninsula, has spectacular panoramic views of the sea and surrounding islets. It is home to the superb archeological site of the temple of Poseidon, and is a very popular spot to watch the sunset. The perfect combination of history and nature. It will take you about 1h30 to drive from the city center. There are 2 roads to get there: the inland roads, which has less curves and is slightly shorter, and the coastal road, which offers stunning views (recommended). You can combine this trip with a stop at the Vouliagmeni Lake, or one of the beaches along the coast.
